Castles - Summer Term 2017
We hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday and that the Easter Bunny brought lots of chocolate! We would like to give a special welcome to our ‘New Nursery Starters’ who are joining us.
This term we will be researching Castles; how they have changed over time and finding out what castle life was like. We will also be finding out about famous Castles from around the world. We will also have a big focus on ‘Growing, Plants and Trees’ in Science and the children will carry out some research and simple scientific investigations.
We have been learning about how plants grow. We planted sunflower seeds and cared for our plants by watering them. We have made seed bombs to start our wildflower area and also used seeds we collected from real lemons and limes to grow new plants. The children were also keen to help water the fruits, vegetables and herbs planted in our Keyhole Garden.

Ginormous Giants and Garden Shops
Explorers have continued their interest in plants, by planting beanstalks for Jack to climb to the Giant’s castle. Also, the children have helped set up a Garden Shop role play area and used early writing skills to make packets of seeds to sell in their shop. We also have investigated where seeds come from, by squeezing lemons and limes to gather the seeds inside them.
