World Book Day 2022

3rd March 2022

** The Voyagers' video is finally here! Our apologies for the delay. You can view it by clicking on this link**

It was amazing to see all of the children dressed up in their costumes and sharing their favourite books. All the classes have a carefully chosen book at the heart of their mini adventure and we really enjoyed getting together in the hall to share what we have been reading. We love to get our children excited about reading and hope that you enjoy spending your vouchers - these can be used for £1 off a book costing £2.99 or more, or you can exchange them for a FREE World Book Day Book. More information can be found on the World Book Day website

Explorers

The Explorers had a wonderful time on World Book day and have made some amazing book marks with their favourite characters. We loved seeing them all dressed up and it was an exciting adventure to go into the hall with the rest of the school to see everyone else's costumes! You can see some photos and our poetry videos below - Enjoy!
Pioneers

We love to read in the Pioneers! Mrs Gamston always chooses a great book to start our mini adventure and we are getting very good at analysing and interpreting texts in different ways. We really enjoyed our last book, Holes, by Louis Sachar, and over the last half term we have done some really interesting work taking apart the plot and using the structure of the story in our own writing.
On World Book Day we had fun dressing up and finding out what everyone's favourite book is at the moment. If you need a book recommendation - just ask the Pioneers!
You can see some photos of the day, and our Poetry video, here.
Adventurers

The Adventurers had a great day showing off their amazing costumes and writing about their character.  We also got the chance to share some of the stories our favourite characters are in too.  Check out our gallery of amazing costumes below!
Moon-Face arrived in the classroom and needed the help of the children to make some tasty Pop-Cakes, complete with runny honey.  The children were more than happy to help bake them and, of course,  eat them!.  They also took part in an online workshop with the great Axel Scheffler who read them stories and showed them how to draw in his iconic style.
We were really proud of our Adventurers because of how well they learnt their poems and how brave they were in performing them in front of the class.  You can watch the video by clicking below.
Voyagers

We had an amazing day on World Book day and loved dressing up in our costumes. We are very much enjoying our book, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and some of us used it as inspiration for our outfits! Lots of us also used Roald Dahl characters, as we learned about him last term and love his books! You can see some photos below.
