A Ministerial Visit to Felton Primary School & Pumpkin Pie

14th February 2017

On Tuesday afternoon Pumpkin Pie and our School's Early Years' provision were very proud to receive a visit from Therese Coffey MP for Suffolk and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Environment and Rural Life Opportunities.

Our settings have been included in a recent case study which highlighted successful partnerships providing 30 hours free child for 3-4 year olds. Although we have found it natural to work together to provide for the needs of our community, apparently, our collaboration is a rarer occurrence than you might imagine.

During the visit Lucy Grieve and Mrs Connolly gave a quick introduction to the School and Pumpkin Pie and talked about how we work together to provide the best outcomes for all our children. Ms Coffey was keen to speak to the Early Years' staff and discuss Nursery provision within the school. We then moved onto Pumpkin Pie where she again met staff and discussed their setting. Ms Coffey then had a brief opportunity to speak to some parents who are benefitting from the 30 hours free childcare for 3-4 year olds.

The feedback from Ms Coffey and her team was overwhelmingly positive, they were extremely complimentary about the service that both the School and Pumpkin Pie provide and commented on the real sense of community they felt during their visit.

We are delighted to have been recognised in this way and would like to extend many thanks to our team of amazingly talented and dedicated staff, who allow us to provide the very best opportunities for the families and children in Felton and beyond!
