Sunshine Fund

8th June 2018

As you are all aware we are Collecting Miles for School to raise money to  help to develop each classroom environment to support the learning needs of each cohort. In particular we would like to update our ICT equipment.  We also stated that a proportion of the money raised would be donated to charity.  So the charity that we are all supporting is "The Chronicle Sunshine Fund" and their GO BANANAS campaign this June.

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund supplies specialist equipment to Children with disabilities and life limiting illnesses in the North East. Equipment that can't be funded by anyone else. The charity was founded in 1928 by King George V who donated £15 to take disadvantaged children to the coast when he officially opened the Tyne Bridge.

Today, were visited by Rachel and her son who spoke to us about the incredible impact any fundraising can have.  The children loved meeting them and have felt inspired to support and raise awareness of this terrific cause.

Next Wednesday, we will all be running/skipping/walking and in some cases cartwheeling but with a slight difference...... all we ask is that everybody is wearing something yellow.  This could be a T-Shirt, pair of shorts, socks, headband, shoes, or anything else that can be worn that is yellow.

At the end of the mile this week all the children will be planting a sunflower each that once grown a bit will be planted out in the grounds to  show our support and commitment to the sunshine fund.  Please help us to help them and thank you once again for all the support for the Miles for School that you have been giving.
